1932 Five Window Ford Hot Rod

Finally...had some time to paint and finish the hood.

A friend said he made some hold down brackets using the hood side loops on a 33-34 car so I decided to try it on the '32.

I made these from 1/4 round stock. I drilled and tapped for a small screw to serve as handle and spring stop.

They just grab the inside on the grille shell and the other one grabs the edge of the firewall.

The spring holds it in place.

Someone asked about how the hooks sits on the inside so here is a few pix.

It is really amazing how much it changes the look of the car. It looks about a foot longer and more "finished" I like !

Next: Fenders

These followed me home the other day. Rust free original fenders.

1932 Ford front fenders

OK, time to start working on this. I am using a model B head light bar sans the V8 insignia for a cleaner look. I am digging the stock height head light bar. I think we have seen dropped bars on street rods since the eighties to the point we think that is the way it should be. Well, not so fast. This is the way Henry did it and that is good enough for me. This is also bringing the "old" back to the car if that makes sense.

I can't be Milner for ever.

I did have a bit of an epiphany thought...I decided to order a full fender kit from Brookville. I can do a lot but I am not a body man. These originals are very nice but the certainly needs some massaging.

Just to see the these front fenders and head light bar mocked up like this is VERY motivating. The car has a nice stance and rake now and I can only imagine how it is going to look with everything installed. Can't wait to get the fender package and go to work...stay tuned.
