Mom's coming...

Fred and Ruby are Portuguese Water Dogs. This hearty breed was working with Portuguese fishermen, doing chores like retrieving gear, rounding up the nets, herding fish in to the nets and acting as messengers between the boats. Needless to say, they have been replaced by cell phones and electronic fish finders!
