The Shelton's "VolvoCanadian" 123GT
Another happy Volvo 123GT owner is
Mat Shelton and his family from Surrey, British
Columbia.
In Aug 2011 they brought home their dream car, a red 1967 Volvo
123GT.

Mat has been looking for his dream car even since he got a
ride in his dad's (Barry Shelton) new dark green 1967
Volvo 123GT.
Here it is, in Aug 2011. It may not be green, but it's a
great color and it's a GT. Car number 278XXX
Immediate plans are general go thru and to remove the bumper
overrider as it was not stock on GT cars.

| Date plate with GT confirmation. 46 is the code
for that deep red color |

Looks like all Canadian assembled Volvos got
this plate, just below the data plate. |

Here is Mat's dad's 123GT when it was rather new.
We have not figured out the rims. Looks like the
centers are painted dark, possibly body color but the rims
remain silver. Maybe a dealer job...

This is 1970 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Now we know why
the Swedes gave the Canadian built Volvo 123GT limited slip
!!
Note how Shelton Sr. removed the grilles and installed
driving lights.

As you can see, the VolvoCanadian emblem is on the
left and the 123GT
emblem ended up on the right side on this car.
We have seen them on both sides, as well as one
emblem on each side. Unlike the Swedish built GT
cars there were no rime and reason as to where the
emblems on Canadian built GT cars ended up. There is
also a dealer sign above the GT emblem.
The car had BC plates BFG156 on
it. If you know of the whereabouts of this car, Mat
would love to know. Please contact your editor and I
would forward the contact information.
Thanks Mat, for sharing these very special photos and
memories of your dad's 123GT.
Mat has promised me updates on the car and I will
post them here,
